The marijuana legislation has earmarked forty percent (40%) of the tax revenue collected from the sale of recreational marijuana to go to the New York State Lottery Fund. This fund provides money to eligible school districts to assist with funding their general operations.
To ensure the money from this fund reaches eligible school districts in communities disproportionately impacted by marijuana drug laws, the cannabis social equity coalition will assist our coalition partners identify eligible school districts in "Most Harmed" communities and make them known to the administrators of the New York State Lottery Fund.
