Individuals adversely impacted by the marijuana drug laws
will receive 50% of the licenses Issued
New York's marijuana legislation requires the Cannabis Control Board, which oversees the implementation of the legislation, to give priority to individuals adversely impacted by the marijuana drug laws. The board is instructed to develop a social and economic equity plan that awards fifty percent (50%) of the marijuana licenses to social and economic equity applicants. The nine licensed categories are:
1. Cultivation
2. Processing
3. Distribution
4. Dispensary
5. Cooperative
6. Micro-Business
7. Delivery
8. Nursery
9. On-Site Consumption
The legislation does not say whether the social and economic equity plan should include all, some or only one of the nine (9) license categories.
The Cannabis Social Equity Coalition - NYS is requesting that the Cannabis Control Board award social and economic equity applicants 50% of the licenses in each of the nine (9) category as opposed to a select few.
